Halloween adventure!

We took Chloe out to a few places for her "candy stop".. Chloe and Daddy picked me up from work...Well of course when she went in she was spoiled by Christy who gave her ever sugar item available, including an 8oz can of MT DEW!!!! Then we stopped 3 more places before making our way to Christys house so Frank could see the cute little butterfly!!! Finally at like 9 we decided it was time to go home, but Chloe had other plans...She didnt want to leave her little friends Brianna and Carson.. But we had a blast just wish I didnt have to work the following morning! Im so tired now...Four days of 12 hour shifts just wears me out.. By 4 today i was ready to run home, curl up on the couch and nap until Rex and Chloe got home...But for some reason those crazy girls today wouldnt let me leave... they kept saying that these people needed to be feed and i continued to reply with- well there is always TV DINNERS in the freezer..Glad to be home!! So excited to sleep in tomorrow. pray chloe does the same!!!

"WHAT A FOOL"

Well I know a little while ago, I had posted that we were moving....Unfortunately not going to happen in the state of Indiana!!!!
To our lastest findings.........The state of Indiana has a law that has been in effect since the early 80s that no septic systems can be issued in a flood plain.....which I can't help but to find this very interesting.....My in laws built their house in this same flood plain only 12 years ago....But our county Health Inspector informs me that was a different time and different person......How is it okay for one to do something that the other can not......it doesn't make much sense to me....
So anyway, where our trailer was to set is in a hundred year flood plain (mind you the last time there was any water near the area was back in 1953) My father and fathernlaw both barely remember this flooding... after it was all said and done our trailer was to sit at least 411 feet above the flood stage, which was no problem.....our septic system however was only going to be at 406...I cant believe that 5 feet makes that much of a difference..... But what do I know!!
So I continued to throw my "Blocher" temper around (as Rex calls it) So I asked, even if by some chance I had won $100,00,000, I wouldn't be able to build a house on any of my ground due to the flood plain...And the man said yes mam that is correct....I threw my hands in the air and continued to tell him that it was stupid that people TAX PAYERS.. cant do what they wish with their own ground...and he just looked at me like I was going to hit him or throw something.... So of course my temper got the best of me I demanded all the money we had spent in permits...that for some reason he had issued prior to knowing the area was in a flood plain....
And I stormed out and looked at Rex and demanded that we should move out of this stupid county......
SO of course later on as I made myself calm down....I realized how stupid and childish I had been.....
I looked at Rex and said that i had been a fool...And then I realized that God has his plan for us and maybe moving wasn't in that specific plan.... Things happen or don't happen for a reason... Maybe its best...Only he can see what the future holds...

George goes to Indianapolis

Here in Vincennes, we have a wonderful monument called George Rogers Clark Memorial...

Its beautiful to see in person. It sits next to the Wabash River....

Our local paper has been issuing this little wooden cut out of the memorial...AKA George. Encouraging people to take him on their travels...

So we decided to take George to the state fair....
Pictured left to right:
Steven Decker, Brenda Blocher, Bobbi Decker, Chad Phegley, Ashley Blocher(holding George) , Jerry Blocher, Chloe Decker, Darlene Decker, Rex Decker and "lil rammie"..

The Combine

Daddy and Chloe

Daddy looks for his John Deere key to see if it will unlock the door.. oddly enough it did...

Chloe and her daddy play on the combine that daddy can only wish to own....
I dont know if its close enough to see the price tag...but the combine alone is $389,000 and the corn head that is attached at the front is $81,549....$81,549 just to pick corn....
Who ever said farming was cheap? Can you believe that for $500,000 you could harvest your corn in this beautiful combine...As Rex and I was discussing, that doesn't included the Grain head which is used to harvest wheat and soybeans.
Of course I would love to have it...look it has a seat for me and chloe....haha (daddy can ride in the tractors...)

Little Farmer Chloe

We stopped of at the little farmers play yard..
Chloe is a little farmer in the making.....
Chloe feeds the cows
Then the pigs
Then cousin Ashley helps Chloe harvest some apples
The Chloe and Mommy milk a cow
Then Chloe goes for a ride on the tractor....of course we had to pick out the green one...I couldnt get her to get on the pretty pink one...haha

Chloe's ride

Chloe rode around the fair in style....her pretty red wagon....her grandma decker made her a nice little john deere pillow for it...which came in handy when it was nap time...
Chloe standing proud and pretty with her wagon..

Indiana State Fair

Sunday, August 16th, the Decker's and Blocher's loaded up and headed north to Indianapolis, IN...

Well I should say Chloe and I loaded up with Mamaw and Papa Blocher and Cousin Ashley, while daddy and Chad(aka Pedro) loaded up all the tack and our sheep....Sunday we spent the mid-morning traveling, Chloe traveled very well. Chloe and cuz Ashie(as chloe says) and Mamaw spent most of the trip watching DVDs, while I drove part of the way and Papa took over before arriving close to Indy...Im such a nervous driver now that Chloe is here...It used to never bother me to drive in the bigger cities...But I guess being a mommy changes a lot of things.....

When we arrived to Indy we mainly spent the day hanging around the hotel...In years before Chloe, Rex and I would just stay in the sheep barn...while mom and dad stayed in the hotel....

Monday we arrived early to the fair grounds....we spent most of the day in Pioneer Village(which is where you can see how things were done in the earlier years) the DNR building Chloe loved to see all the different kinds of fish found in the state... Tuesday we spent the morning preparing for the Oxford Open Show... Our poor lil ram didnt want to come clean we washed, washed, and washed him again.... and he was still very yellow....after it was all said and done we showed and then showed again, and ended up with second place in open show and second in Indiana born class....two second place ribbons was great!!! After the show and everything settled we wondered back out on to the grounds and showed Chloe all the animals... we had fun but its always nice to return home....
here is our wonderful yearling ram aka lil rammie

Chloe and Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream

Chloe and her Daddy shared an ice cream cone the other night at her grandmother's County Fair... My mother-n-law informs us when we get there that we have to hit up the "Ice Cream Hut" before we leave, and also the banana splits are out of this world.....
So we stopped off on our way out of the grounds...well this poor ice cream cone (just the ice cream) seemed to be bigger than Chloe....and of course I got the banana split...and OH MY I got a small one....lets just say I'd hate to know what the large looked like.....Chloe, Rex, and myself couldn't eat it all....well Chloe like daddy's ice cream cone better....ha ha
I'll be so glad when all these fairs are over and can just spend time at home as a family....We are leaving August 16th for the Indiana State Fair, in Indianapolis, IN about 3 hours away from our home....then we well be done with sheep shows for awhile, until November when we go to the largest show in the United States. "NAILE" is what the regulars call it...North American International Livestock Exhibition in Louisville, KY.

Chickens anyone?

Well my brother Morris has managed to land himself in the chicken business.....

So one lovely morning i received a phone call from him, begging me to go to the post office and pick up this package, and keep it safe while he is at work....

So I load Chloe up in the car and head off to the post office. A million things running thur my head as what it could be.... So we get into the post office and I told the woman what I was there for and she says oh yes they got arrived an hour ago....I said they?? What has the world come to can we send people thur the mail? She laughed and said do you not know what the package is? I told her, all I knew was that my brother called and said there was a package at the post office and I needed to get it and take care of it until he returns home from work.....
so she walks to the back, and I start to hear this little chirpin sound getting closer and closer....Well to my amazement its a dozen of baby chicks.....what fun for me!!! So I load them into the car and take them to my parents house....my brother only lives 2 doors away....I told dad I said look.....I have a box that we need to take care of.....Dad opened it and he said thats your brother.....
So we unloaded these cute little guys and Chloe would leave their side......she even cried when my brother took them home. so I thought I'd share her pictures of the baby chicks.....she loved to look at them, but wouldnt touch them...

Chloe's new hair do

Well a few weeks ago my best friend Linsie came over and highlighted my hair.....keep in mind this is what she went to school for.......well Rex is always making the comment that when Chloe leaves with Linsie she might come back with some crazy hair color....well his worst nightmare came true....while we were getting my colors at the supply house we ran across some wash out color that reminded me of masscra...but it was purple...so of course we had to get it....haha...we put it in Chloe's hair....and Rex had the nerve to ask me if it was permant...Can u believe that?

so any way....I wanted to share her hairdo she had for a few hours....

Chloe's Dirt Queen!!!

Chloe and the rocks!!
Chloe playing in the dirt

Oh my we are going to need a bath

Chloe finds more dirt....actually a little bit of mud

These past couple weeks have been very eventful for little Chloe....Last week we took her to the Pike County Fair (her grandma d runs this fair) we looked at all the animals she screamed and cried when she saw the goats, chickens, and rabbits......but the pig's, cow, and sheep she was fine with..... its like one week she likes the sheep and the next she hates them....who knows what goes threw her mind....haha........so anyway with all that was going on, chloe still managed to have her own fun.......PLAYING IN THE ROCKS AND DIRT!!!!!!
This week is our county fair (Knox) so sunday night her and I went with "daddy" to help him weigh in market lambs and visit with friends...with all that continues to go on everyone bringin in their livestock she still manages to have her own fun....PLAYING IN THE DIRT!!!!!
So this morning before I had to go to work....We go outside to let our dog (Cookie) outside and she manages to find the dirt.....so of course she is Playing in the dirt.....
Chloe Maedine Decker----is offically the DIRT QUEEN!!!!

We are moving

We are busy little bees....
We are in the proccess of moving. We've decided to move to our farm...the crazy thing is that we should have done this 3 years ago. but you live and learn. We are moving a trailer out there, this just kills me that we are only spending about a third of what our house cost us 3 years ago.
But anyway, I'm very sorry if for the next 2 months there wont be very many new blogs from us.
We are still waiting to get almost 500 acres of crops(soybeans) in the ground. The rain cant seem to go anywhere else but here. I'm so sick of rain!!! This is one crazy year. and of course in the middle of everything we are moving....what maddness....
We took a little 2 day vacation to our home away from home. This past Friday(19) we left our home and traveled to Springfield, ILL as we do every year. For our Annual American Oxford Sheep Assocation Show and Sale. This two day event is time to look at what new lambs are for sale and to visit with our oxford family. However we came home empty handed this year. We usually purchase some new lambs, but we decided to give what lambs we did end up with a chance. But as always we were glad to return home!!!

Easter morning

i just wanted to share some pictures of chloe's first easter......one of her in her easter dress at grandma D's playing before we left for church, and the second one is her putting the change that the easter bunny left in some eggs into her piggy bank (aka PIGGY)

Easter!

Chloe's 1st easter was a very fun filled day, the easter bunny visited mommy and daddys house, mamaw and papa's, and grandma and granddad deckers houses as well..........
but we had a very unexpected suprise that easter afternoon. we took chloe out to the barn to see the sheep, and to our suprise we found a new born lamb.. we thought we were finished lambing for this season. so we tried to get chloe to take her picture with the new little lamb, and as you can see she wanted no part of that lamb.....
When the sheep baaaaaaa Chloe screams. We have a ram that is almost 3 and he walks up to us(he is very friendly and playful) and she just smiles, but when the other baaaa she cries......We just cant figure it out....

Brother Visits

This weekend we had a special visitor, my brother Lance was home from Germany. He was home to visit the family for a few days, and then had to leave today for his training this week. It was nice having him here, and to see him with Chloe. At first Chloe didnt know how to take him. But she was a funny girl, when it came to Uncle Lance, everytime she did something she would look at him to see if he was watching her. She is usually a man's baby but for a first visit, I think she came around to him very well. If we would have had another day I'm sure she could've gotten her Uncle Lance wrapped around that pinky finger of hers.(or maybe she already does only Uncle Lance knows Haha) Like she has her daddy and Papaw.

Let me know what you think......
Here is a video of Chloe walking... at my mom and dads
house she loves to give the doggie's a treat!

Chloe's 1st brithday!!!

March 28th, 2009........My baby girl celebrated her first birthday...with family and friends by her side. she made out like a little bandit....i told rex we will have to add on to our house for all her stuff..... Everything went smooth, she dug into her cake like a pro. then got upset at us when we took it away...I know we shouldn't take it away, but she acted like she was going to fall asleep-face first into the cake.

We had a great day....we are very blessed....

Sick one!

Poor little Chloe, who is only days away from her first birthday, has got a bad cold. We took her to the doctor this week, but the doctor said is just a common cold. She has a runny nose, terrible cough, and a little fever. The doctor ordered a Chest X-Ray, some blood work, and a RSV test.
All the test came back negative. She said for us to continue with what we are doing and it should go away in the next 72 hours. Well this morning she woke up and her little eyes are all red, swollen, and matted shut, the fever is gone, a little cough, and the nose is still running.
She is 100% better today than she was Monday. Monday all she would do is lay in your arms and sleep. She is running around and having a good ol time!!!! Well I shouldn't say running, she's only been walking for almost 3 weeks. Anyway hope she gets better soon!!!!

The Decker's

My name is Bobbi, I'm married to a great man Rex, and together we have our amazing little girl Chloe. We live in Vincennes, Indiana.. I work 3 days a week at our local hospital, and the rest of the time I'm a stay at home mommy...(I'd much rather stay home 24/7). Rex works for the SWCD (soil and water conservation district) in Knox County, but his heart is in farming. He farms about 9 miles south of our home in a small little country town, called Decker, Indiana.

He and his father farm close to 700 acres, and Rex and I raise our Oxford Sheep. Poor Rex has way too much on his plate, between the wife, child, office job, and farming I dont how he keeps it all in line. But we all know his heart is in farming.

We don't really do much exciting. Rex's 2 jobs keep him pretty busy and hard for him to get away at times. We only travel a few times a year, and they are mainly Sheep Shows. We are pretty down to earth people and pretty boring at times. But thats our life and we love it!
